It might be depressives analyse why the event happened, and the feeling of the event after it. Hard to say. I feel it depends on the meaning in the sensation. A negative meaning is hard to resist.

Another idea. Maybe people who have enough tinnitus to seek treatment or to volunteer for medical studies get quizzed more probingly about their psychiatric histories than other people.

My shrink wrote that my depression was a direct result of the tinnitus, and categorically stated that the tinnitus was not the result of depression. Loop
